This secondary student exchange program takes place in Vermont or South China each summer.
It is a program for young people dedicated to finding better ways to treat each other and the environment that sustains us.
We are looking for American and Canadian students who would like to come to understand the fascinating Chinese culture better through shared field programs with Chinese students designed to address pressing environmental issues.
Have you ever been to South China?
The Affiliated High School of South China Normal University is designing a program to introduce students to the nature, culture, economy, and history of Guangdong & Yunan, China.
You will work with Chinese students and see a part of China through the lens of a Chinese program, not as a tourist would.
This program will run for two weeks in July 2017 (approximate dates are between 6 to 24 July).
Earn College credit through Castleton University will tentatively be available.

GATW in Vermont:
This field program for high school students will be based at the University of Vermont in affiliation with the Rubenstein School of Environment & Natural Resources, Burlington, Vermont. We will explore the natural history, business interests and politics of Vermont with Chinese students during two weeks from mid-July to early August 2018.
Those who successfully participate in the South China expedition will be given priority for the Vermont program during the summer of 2018.

Admission Requirements
You must have a demonstrable interest in environmental science, business and economics, policy and governance, Chinese culture and language, or international exchange. An exceptional level of curiosity, maturity, resilience and perseverance is required. You must be in good standing at your sending school.
Finances
Limited need based financial support is available for those who really need it. If you work hard to fund this experience, we will work hard to help you. Do not allow financial concerns to keep you from applying.
-GATW 2017 summer program tuition: $2,500
This includes program costs, room and board and local transportation. It does not include transportation to and from South China.
Vermont students who reside in Rutland County should consult with GATW about applying to The Hayes Foundation for support. All students may complete Green Across the World’s Application for Financial Assistance.
